EQUINE FLY SPRAY RE-INVENTED
This is how it’s done!
The active ingredient in THE WHOLE HOOF’s fly and insect repellent ‘MISTDFLY’ is ‘PMD’ (the ‘potent magical difference’ (click here to see what this is) which is derived from the Eucalyptus Citriodora tree. The essential oil is extracted from the leaves.
GROWING THE TREES
Eucalyptus Citriodora trees are grown on small plantations in north east Australia and other parts of the world.
Harvesting the leaves
Leaves are harvested by hand from the trees. The leaves are steam distilled to produce Eucalyptus Citriodora Oil.
Distilling the oil
Leaves are placed in large ‘pots’ and are compressed. Steam is then applied to remove the oil from the leaves.
Oil to PMD (‘potent magical difference’!)
The ‘magic’ part of the oil is called p-menthane-3,8-diol – ‘PMD’ for short! There is only a little bit of it in each leaf and through a top secret process the levels are dramatically increased.

From oil to bottle
This special liquid is then bottled in small batches and packaged with love – The Whole Hoof stamp of approval.

The bottled sprays then find their way via a happy delivery man and his lorry to the TWH store or your saddlery.
